Dreaming of an elopement surrounded by red rocks, glowing desert light, and endless horizons? Arches National Park offers one of the most breathtaking and iconic landscapes in the world, and is one of the best spots to elope in Moab. Planning a wedding day here comes with unique challenges, but the incredible views are worth it! In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to plan an intentional, awe-filled Arches National Park elopement!
As an Moab elopement photographer who specializes in guiding couples through every step of the process, I created this guide to help you craft a stress-free day that feels true to you, from choosing the perfect location to capturing once-in-a-lifetime portraits under the desert sky.

As a trusted Arches National Park elopement photographer, I’ve had the honor of helping many adventurous couples escape the stress and crowds of traditional weddings. Over time, I’ve learned that the secret to truly enjoying the elopement of your dreams, the kind where it’s just you, your partner, and nature, is intentional planning. Especially when eloping in popular national parks like Arches, preparation is what creates space for presence. It’s what allows you to soak in every moment without rushing or stressing. That’s exactly what inspired me to create this guide to eloping in Arches National Park: so you can start your journey with confidence and clarity.
With over 2,000 natural arches, vibrant red sandstone, and panoramic views, Arches National Park is a desert dream. It’s a place where time slows down, where introverted, adventurous couples can find stillness in the wild.
I spend most of my time serving couples in Moab and have explored the area’s hidden corners, best lighting spots, and most peaceful moments. My elopement photography approach is rooted in intention: helping you be fully present, while I document your story in a way that feels honest and grounded.
Planning an elopement in Arches isn’t as simple as showing up and saying “I do.” Here are a few real talk truths:
But here’s the good news: With careful planning (and a photographer who knows the way), you can still create a beautiful, private, and meaningful elopement in this beautiful place.

Spring (Mar-May): Mild temps, vibrant desert blooms, popular season
Summer (Jun-Aug): Very hot (often over 100°F), longer days, high tourism
Fall (Sep-Nov): Cool mornings/evenings, great light, fewer crowds
Winter (Dec-Feb): Quiet, moody light, cold temps, occasional snow
Best Times of Day: Sunrise and sunset offer the best light and the fewest crowds. Some trails and arches feel totally different depending on time of day; I help couples choose based on lighting, privacy, and season.

There are so many stunning Arches elopement locations to choose from, and while not all of them are approved for ceremonies, many are perfect for portraits. I help my couples navigate the balance between legally approved sites and visually iconic backdrops so you can experience the best of both worlds.

This stunning overlook offers breathtaking views of the La Sal Mountains framed by red rock formations. It’s one of the most flexible locations, allowing up to 50 guests. The wide-open space and layered desert-meets-mountain backdrop make it ideal for couples looking for a dramatic yet serene ceremony setting.

With towering rock walls and a natural canyon vibe, Park Avenue feels like walking through a stone cathedral. It’s perfect for intimate ceremonies of up to 15 guests. The morning light here creates soft shadows and rich color tones, perfect for couples craving a peaceful, cinematic elopement.
One of the most iconic areas in Arches, The Windows Section features North and South Windows and Turret Arch. It accommodates up to 25 guests and is a favorite for its jaw-dropping rock formations. Be mindful that it’s also one of the busiest areas, so sunrise ceremonies work best here to avoid crowds.
True to its name, Panorama Point offers sweeping views of the surrounding desert landscape. With space for up to 50 guests, it’s ideal for couples who want a wide-open backdrop and stunning golden hour light. It’s easily accessible and often less crowded than other ceremony sites.

These towering, intertwined arches create one of the park’s most impressive visual features. Up to 25 guests are allowed here, and while it’s often bustling with tourists, early morning or off-season times can offer a more peaceful experience. The scale and drama of Double Arch make it unforgettable for portraits.
This is the only location in Arches that allows up to 80 guests, making it ideal for larger intimate weddings. The natural amphitheater setting offers a beautiful acoustic space and a remote desert feel. It’s a great choice if you’re bringing a small crowd but still want to feel immersed in nature.
Important: Some arches (like Delicate Arch) are not available for ceremonies but are stunning for portraits. I help couples find the best balance between privacy, accessibility, and jaw-dropping views.
One of the best ways to make sure your ceremony isn’t crowded with tourists, and still enjoy those iconic Arches views in your photos, is to have your ceremony just outside the park in a quieter location (I help scout these). Then, head into Arches for golden hour or sunrise portraits when the light is dreamy and the crowds are low.
This gives you:
Your elopement day deserves to feel like a story, not a rushed checklist. For Arches National Park, the best lighting and quietest moments happen at sunrise and sunset. Here’s a sample elopement timeline designed around that golden light, which is perfect for creating space to connect, breathe, and take in the moment without feeling rushed.

Eloping doesn’t mean your day is any less meaningful, it means you have the freedom to make it more you. This timeline allows space to breathe, adventure, and connect deeply without feeling rushed or scripted.
